Steven Byrne was born in Ireland but was brought up in the West Midlands. Steven was Chief Executive Officer of the MCD Group; an experienced specialist in all aspects of property development and regeneration.

MCD Companies have been multi-award winning in the field of urban regeneration of complex Brownfield sites, completing over £1bn of projects in the UK. MCD forged close partnerships, many within the public sector, to create quality projects which require imaginative solutions to deliver commercial rewards and substantial economic and community benefits. Partnering several governmental ministries such as the Department of Education (QCDQ), King Edwards Trustees, Siemens International, Marconi, ING, Hermes, Hammersons and Land Securities.

After graduating from De Montford University in 1985, Steven rapidly progressed to his appointment in 1991 as Development Director of Inner City Enterprises Plc (ICE), a company set up by the financial institutions in response to the Brixton/Toxteth riots. Worked closely with ICE Plc sister company, which ICE founded, London Industrial, (renamed after floatation as Workspace) ICE pioneered difficult to develop sites nationwide, producing innovative solutions involving new forms of accommodation to re-attract occupational demand and investment to inner city locations. Working in partnership with the public sector and local communities, ICE was at the forefront of linking physical change to benefit local people.

Steven is a Senior Stakeholder Member of Meridian Water, the 210 acre, £6.5Bn mixed use regeneration project in Enfield London. Stevens various property and socio economic consultancy roles include advising an Icelandic Municipality on a £1bn public/Private regeneration project with a carbon neutral footprint, and 100% green energy.

Steven believes both the efficient use and control of existing energy, coupled with new green energy sources, are a fundamental ingredient in major property regeneration projects, and in the future proofing of existing property estates. Through the partnership arrangements NREG now has in place, Steven and the NREG team are tackling these issues working in partnership with major property developers and property owners.
